New Release with $10 Giveaway: Gone by Karyn Good

Gone Tour Graphic
Gone
Series: Aspen Lake Series Book 3
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press
Publication Date: May 6, 2019
Gone...but never forgotten.
Ever since a devastating family tragedy seventeen years ago, Grace Bighill has struggled to keep her remaining family from falling apart. Then the discovery of her mother's body in the woods unearths a connection to a decades old murder case, and Grace is dragged into a politician's bitter bid for revenge.
Constable Mike Davenport's days in Aspen Lake are numbered. He's ready to take his next step up the career ladder somewhere a lot more cosmopolitan. He's avoided any emotional attachments, despite having fallen hard for a certain stubborn local. But when a body turns up, Mike's careful intentions collapse in the face of Grace's grief and her exhaustive efforts to care for her family.
A search for answers leads Grace and Mike down a twisted path proving no one can escape their roots. But someone might die trying.

Excerpt

The music still played but no one listened. They were too busy trying to talk at once.
Mike settled in beside her and his disapproving green eyes scanned her face. He lifted the cloth covering her knee and winced. "You okay?"
Grace flinched as his fingers did a gentle probe. "Welcome to the party."
"Seems we were a little late getting our invitation." His expression turned serious. "This may need medical attention."
"It's just a scratch." She tamped down the gooey need threatening to overtake her. Tried to remember it didn't pay to get sentimental over this particular man.
Her reassurance didn't stop him from carefully dabbing at her cut. Or from leaning in to get a closer look. "I don't see any glass, but that doesn't mean there isn't any in there."
"I'm fine." She braced her hands on the floor ready to lift herself up, having had enough attention and being at the center of it.
Mike put his hand on her shoulder and coaxed her back down. "There's no rush. Take a moment."
She warmed under his touch and the tender concern she'd secretly, and not so secretly, yearned for since he'd arrived in Aspen Lake two years ago.

Pre-Order Alert with $25 Giveaway: The Earl Next Door by Amelia Grey

The Earl Next Door Tour Graphic
The Earl Next Door
Series: First Comes Love # 1
Genre: Historical Romance
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Publication Date: May 28, 2019
One fiercely independent widow.
One honest proposal.
One unconventional game of love.
When Adeline, Dowager Countess of Wake, learns of her husband's sudden death, she realizes she's free. At last, she can do, go, and be as she pleases. Finally, she can have the life she has always dreamed of. She doesn't need, or want, to remarry. Especially not the supremely dashing Earl of Lyonwood, who makes Adeline yearn for his desire . . .
Lord Lyonwood, son of a philandering marquis, will not be like his father. He wants to run his estates and watch them flourish - and find a wife who brings love to his life. When he meets spirited and self-reliant Adeline in a case of near-scandalous mistaken identity, Lyon feels he's met his match. But Adeline isn't interested in a marriage proposal. She will only accept becoming his lover - and Lyon finds it hard to refuse. Unless the fire of his passion can melt Adeline's resolve . . .

Excerpt

“You’re much younger than I assumed the owner of this establishment would be,” Lyon confessed. “And as beautiful as you are in your crimson and gold, and in any other circumstances, or another location, I would be happy to pay whatever fee you charge to fulfill my needs. However, this is a respectable neighborhood and I cannot and will not sit by and allow a madam to move in and set up her business here.”
A trio of thumps resounded in Adeline’s chest and then a few more. The pendulum on the clock must have ticked a half dozen times. Her brain seemed to freeze before the air swooshed out of her lungs. Shock roared through her. Her whole body stiffened before she felt her eyes narrow in outrage.
“Just where do you think you are, sir?”
“A house of pleasure, Madam.”
Outrage quickly morphed to fury which flowed hot and fast, consuming her. Oh yes, she knew about such disgraceful, secret places. She’d overheard her late husband and his small group of gentlemen friends talk about visiting them. And this man thought her house was one of them
Adeline was skilled at holding in her emotions but this stranger had gone too far. With only one step she stood toe-to-toe with him. Lifting her face, she rose up on the ball of her feet and edged her nose closer to his. “You think this is one of the many private underground brothels hidden from all but Society’s most elite gentlemen?”
“Isn’t it?” he asked huskily.
There was no time to consider what her next move should be. Stiffening her spine and taking a step back, she proclaimed, “I am the Dowager Countess of Wake and you have trespassed too far. How dare you burst into my house and speak to me the way you have. You, sir, are an abomination to the term gentleman.”
She fought to regain every ounce of her normal calm, her abiding restraint, her guiding sense of decorum in any unpleasant circumstance. But then she accidentally looked at his mouth, felt that long suppressed surge of yearning. Adeline didn’t want this unusual mix of longing and angry dizziness to control her. She hated the truth of how womanly and desirable it made her feel to see hunger for her in his eyes. Hated the truth of how she was presented.
And then, in a moment of insanity, she thought of the very real possibility of those full lips on hers stirring with passion, and reason was gone.
Unable to do anything else before she lost herself completely, she drew back her hand and struck him soundly across the face. It was that, or kiss him.
Perhaps she chose the wrong one.

Interview

We are pleased to have this exclusive interview with the author of Other Than, Mia Jo Celeste. Enjoy!
  1. Who is your favorite romance hero or heroine and why? What qualities do they possess that make them memorable?
I can’t pick one. It changes depending on the book I’m currently reading. I just finished Pure by Julianna Baggott, so I’ll pick Pressia for my favorite heroine and Bradwell and El Capitan was my favorite heroes. I like Pressia’s determination, Bradwell’s loyalty to his friends and his beliefs and El Capitan’s character growth from villain to hero.
  2. Who was the first romance author and book you read?
Kathleen E. Woodiwess’ The Wolf and the Dove.
  3. What do you hope readers take away from your work?
That people can always turn over a new leaf and begin again. I’m a strong believer in second changes and in starting over, so many times my characters are on that journey. Most often, they succeed. We all have a broken place in our past and I write the story of its mending.
  4. What is your favorite hobby and why?
    Reading. I love stories.
  5. What was your inspiration for your stories?
Oddly enough, real life. Stuff that happens to me and to others around me inspires ideas which become story material.
  6. How would you describe OTHER THAN in only three words?
    Rivetingly Dark Redemption
  7. What is your favorite amusement park ride?
I love rollercoasters, especially sitting in the front seat. For a few seconds while you wait for the back of the coaster to get up to the top, you hang over the edge and get to look down at the track and far, far down it goes, before you plunge downward.
  8. Tea or coffee and how do you take it?
I like hot tea. All different kinds. I’m always looking to add to my favorites.
  9. Hot dogs or Hamburgers?
    Hamburgers on the grill.
  10. Favorite all time movie?
    Star Wars. The first one.
  11. Chocolate or vanilla?
Vanilla for ice cream. Chocolate for candy, cake and everything else.
  12. How many states have you lived in?
I’ve only lived in three different states, but I lived in five different countries.

Ravenous Innocence Tour Graphic
Ravenous Innocence
Series: The Last Tritan Book 1
Genre: Adult Fantasy, Dark Fantasy, Science Fiction, Fantasy
Publication Date: February 1, 2019
His people took everything from me, and Goddess be damned if I won't take it back.
“I’ll be good to you,” he purred and swept his thumb over my pendant, caressing. His ki surged into my mind, hammering at me with a soothing promise, abusing the link he’d left behind with a kiss. “You’ll never want for anything…”
Asher promises to teach me the forbidden while my city—my home—burns at his back. Because of him, Tritan falls, and the Caledonian forces take the best of my people for their own sick uses.
To fight, those of us who remain must flee. Regroup, or submit.
But he’s coming, hunting me, and Asher won’t stop until I wear his mark. Until my goddess-given power is his to command.
He’s tasted my lips and fed me nothing but lies, but his betrayal has given me strength even he didn’t expect.
His people took everything from me, and Goddess be damned if I won’t take it back.

Excerpt

A low groan rumbled in his throat, and he swallowed, catching my wrist in a much larger hand. For a long moment, he simply stared down at me, but when my tongue darted out to wet lips dried by searing winds of ki and living shadows, something in him snapped. I felt it happen. Even before he pressed his lips to mine, I felt it.
Warm and soft, his kiss spoke of the forbidden. The impossible. Making my core clench with unnatural speed and fervor as ki whirled between us. Sending blood surging in delicate tissue. All around us. Invisible to the hoards of sightless mundane going about their business a scant few feet away, where only their shades could see us. The scrape of a day-old beard dragged a splintered groan from my chest, and, hands slipping down my back, he seized the taut globes of my bottom. Spreading me.
Pulling me closer.
Would that he could drag me inside his skin, where I could drink him dry and soothe this blessed, painful ache.
His teeth traced my lower lip, filling my lungs with breath and heated ki, pressing a thick bulge against my belly.
I gasped, drinking him in, demanding more. Gorging until my every cell was filled to bursting. Drawing on him as heavily as I drew upon his lips. Needing it. More. There would never be enough.
A puff of breath warmed my cheek when he twisted, breaking away from my lips with a curse, his fingers bunching the fabric of my shift. Inching it indecently high. But he drew back, setting his forehead against mine. Petting my hair back with calloused hands. Obsidian eyes concealed behind scrunched eyelids, labored breath leaving my skin damp. “God, the taste of you, girl.” He released my bottom and cupped the back of my neck, forcing me to still. “What are you?”
“I’m—” my voice cracked, and I cleared my throat, blinking as the world settled around us. Dazed, I squinted up at the man, admiring the rugged, handsome features so different to my own. Alien. Bronzed skin, muscular frame, dark hair and darker eyes—everything I wasn’t.
A Caledonian.
Kissing a Caledonian Elite in public? Had I lost my damned mind? My father would…
Nothing.
My father wasn’t here. And I hadn’t had enough. Not now. Not ever.
I buried my fist in his hair, pulling him back. Driven by instinct I didn’t recognize as my own. By a needy itch below the skin, the likes of which I’d never felt before. Before him..."

About Myra Danvers

Raised by her awesome parents in Canada's snowy north, Myra learned perseverance from an early age. She learned to speak in third person, via extensive reading as a child, because... well... Northern Canada gets a LOT of snow. And when one isn't snowboarding, building quinzees, or waking up to teddy bears frozen to the floor, one tends to read about places that are warm--even if being cold is preferable to being hot, every-damn-time.
All that reading gave Myra the gypsy bug. So, after college, (where she majored in professional gypsying) she moved to a ski resort in British Colombia to be a ski bum and chase the winter, because the cold was in her bones and it never bothered her anyway. (Points because Elsa of Frozen is her spirit animal?)
But then life caught up with her, as it does, and now she's stuffed full of enough life experience to write until transcendence (where she will be first in line to get a sweet android body and travel the universe until the end of time). So that's what she does, when she's not listening to the voices or taking apart the electronics just to see their insides.

Excerpt

Riley gazed at the clock next to her bed for the tenth time in the past twenty minutes. She was mentally exhausted, yet her mind refused to shut down and let her rest. She closed her eyes and willed herself to sleep.
Crreeeak…
She sat up ramrod straight and listened in the darkness. She strained to hear any other sound out of place.
The crickets and frogs chirruped. Off in the distance a red fox cried out—exactly like a woman screaming. Then a scraping sound…so close.
The crickets and frogs abruptly stopped.
She held her breath, one, two, three, heartbeats.
The chirruping returned.
Slipping both legs out from under her covers, she placed her feet on the floor as soundlessly as possible. Slowly shifting her weight, she stood up and tiptoed to the door. She crept out of her room and headed for the stairs where she stopped and listened.
It was a moonless night, and she couldn’t see more than a few feet, but growing up in this house she felt comfortable moving in the near blinding darkness.
She moved onto the first stair and stopped. Making sure of her footing she skipped the next stair knowing it would squeak and gracefully landed on the one below. All the while keeping her hands away from the shaky banister that her dad had promised to fix years ago. She continued down the remining stairs, stepping only on the solid treads. She moved toward the front door. The security system wasn’t active. Had she set it before bed? She couldn’t remember. Cracking the door open she slipped out into the night.
Out of nowhere, a massive hand covered her mouth and an arm wrapped around her waist. She tried to scream, but the man yanked her back and knocked the wind from her lungs.

Featured Book with Guest Post and $66.60 Giveaway: Year of the Demon by Tara Fox Hall

Year of the Demon
Series: Unhallowed Love Book 2
Genre: Paranormal, Erotic Romance, Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Melange Books
Publication Date: February 19, 2019
Will a demon-hunting priest and a wizard bent on world dominion end Shaker’s happiness with his human Mistress Debbie?
CEO Debbie and demon Shaker’s first year of partnership was a smashing success for both Pandora Productions and their own new intimate relationship, ending with the announcement of their engagement last New Year’s Eve. Shaker now inhabits a human host, Pandora’s rising action star Jett Black, putting the possibility of a family within Debbie’s tentative grasp as the couple pledges their love at the altar. But as before, one crisis after another ensues, beginning with Titan’s push to assimilate Pandora and the death of Debbie’s father, bringing her back together with her estranged family, and into the sights of a demon-hunting priest, Father Matthew, who will stop at nothing to not only send Shaker back to the Hell he came from, but also ensure Debbie is free of sin…permanently. When Shaker is sent back to Hell, Debbie is left bereft, her team of allies decimated, her best friend in a coma, she must decide if she will succumb…or rise from the ashes and fight ruthlessly for everything she loves, no matter the cost.

A Word From the Author

Here's a note from the author of Year of the Dragon, Tara Fox Hall
When writing Year of the Demon, I knew that new characters would have to be introduced to help the romantic leads Debbie and Jett (human host)/Shaker (demon) to expand their world, as well as a new threat for them to clash with. Initially, I added several more demons, a handful of humans, and even a formidable faerie sorceress to up the action/conflict ante. But as I wrote, something key felt missing; there was love and passion, but little heart and empathy. Being the animal lover that I am, I decided it was time that Debbie embraced the love of pets by getting a dog. But how to add an animal (and its realistically often messy needs) into Debbie’s world of chrome and glass when her biggest love was her film company Pandora Productions? Debbie had no experience with pets of any kind. She would never think to get a pet herself. Even if someone suggested it, she would respond that she didn’t have the extra time to care for an animal, which would be correct. She would have to understand that her dog was worth making time in her busy schedule for. So the dog would have to be a gift from someone for a compelling reason that she agreed with, and to fit within the story, the animal would have to be something more than a mortal dog.
Enter Guardian, the hellhound.
In celebration of Debbie’s pregnancy following her marriage to Shaker, Shaker’s brother Titus gifts Debbie a black lean mastiff with a beaten metal collar to be her guardian and protector. Able to come out of any nearby shadow at Debbie’s call, Guardian appears and intercedes several times to protect Debbie, holding everything from a murderous priest to a vengeful ghost at bay. Guardian also can nod to show he understands her words, though he cannot talk. But like a real dog, he requires food and water, even if he never has need of a walk.
In time, Debbie begins to rely on Guardian as more than a protector, and he becomes her confidante and companion that she lets sleep on her bed every night, especially after her miscarriage. He opens the way for other relationships and balance to come into her life, helping her to realize that while her career is fulfilling and worth sacrificing for, work is not the sum total of her life. She’s achieved acclaim and fortune with Pandora Productions, but there’s a world outside her computer screen that she’s missed out on, until now. Debbie finds not only the need to change her life priorities, but also the desire to want more out of life for herself.

Excerpt

Lady Phoebe Collins backed into the alcove, stopping when she bumped against the floral wallpaper. She was safely hidden in the shadows, away from the ballroom and its dancing couples. She took the note from her reticule and her heart skipped a beat as she read the words written in a strong hand, “Meet me in the sitting room, two doors beyond the stairs, at half past eleven. —Fox.”
Putting the note back into her reticule, she smiled at the familiar form of address in the signature and moved down the hall to the specified room. Why did Foxington want to meet her? Was he having regrets about what had happened when they’d been snowed in on Christmas Eve? Or was he planning to continue what they’d started on that magical night? His nickname, “The Fox” implied an intimate relationship, and her pulse fluttered again at the thought. She walked down the hall, her mind going over every detail of the night they were trapped together by a snowstorm one year earlier.
Foxington approached offering to escort her home after a dinner party where Ravenstone had surprised everyone by asking Lady Lettice Durham, Foxington’s sister to marry him. The trip home had gone terribly wrong, an unexpected storm piling so much snow on the road that they’d had to unhitch the horses and finish the journey to Elkhorn Hall on horseback.
Foxington had taken her up behind him, and the intimacy of the situation had encompassed them, lingering after they’d arrived and been cared for by the intrepid housekeeper, Mrs. Brown. Food and dry clothing had been provided for everyone, including Foxington’s aunt, who had also been in the carriage as chaperone.
After Foxington’s aunt departed the room, Phoebe walked around the space, picking up pillows from the sofa and fluffing them, only to put one down before picking up another.
“I would say this evening was a success in regards to Lady Lettice and Lord Ravenstone. You accomplished what you set out to do. Your sister is now betrothed, and to a fine gentleman.” Phoebe looked up at Foxington with a smile.
The earl moved swiftly toward Phoebe, reached for the pillow she was holding to her chest, and threw it back onto the sofa before placing one arm around her waist. He cupped her cheek, bent down, and kissed her.
The urgency in his kiss surprised them both, and for a moment she didn’t react. Then, as if giving in to some inner debate her body relaxed against his, she returned the pressure of his lips, and her legs moved against the confines of her gown to arch slightly against him.
He paused slightly, then kissed her once more, gently. He set her back from him with his arms stiff and his breathing ragged.
“Phoebe?” he asked softly, his deep voice thick. With concern, she’d thought.
She stared at him, realizing he was just as shocked as she at their encounter.
“You—you kissed me,” she whispered.
“I certainly did.” A devilish grin quirked at his lips. “And by all accounts you kissed me back. Care for another one?”

Diane Dario
I have been reading romance novels since the age of fourteen and never turned back. I have my Mom to thank for my interest in romance novels and my Dad for my love of history.
Regency romances have always been my all-time favorite era to read (grand ballrooms, dinner parties while sitting next to a grand duke or war hero just returned from fighting against Napoleon and the French, hey I girl can dream, can’t she).
When I am not reading (or writing the stories which dance around in my head) I enjoy the joyful moments with my growing family, the ballet, long walks, travel and romantic movies.
Writing has always been a great passion of mine and I am glad to be doing what I like best. Connecting with readers is a bright spot and always a happy moment for me knowing my books touched someone and they took the time to let me know. Each and every reader is the reason I continue to write Regency Historical romances and you are the ones who keep me at it.

Will a demon-hunting priest and a wizard bent on world dominion end Shaker’s happiness with his human Mistress Debbie?

“I’m hoping to build a family, one of my own,” Debbie said without thinking, then flushed, knowing Shaker had heard her. “This has all been a lot to deal with. I’m not planning on making any big decisions about my life this year, other than to get married. And I do have my own company to run, that I’ve put my heart and soul into.” The latter literally.
The buzzing feeling suddenly increased. Debbie struggled to her feet.
“What’s the matter?” Father John said, his brows knitting.
“I tell you, there’s something here!” came an insistent voice. “I can feel it.” Another young pastor came into view, agitated.
A large man was following him. This tall man stopped still, then swiveled his head to stare right at Debbie. “I feel it too.”
He knows. Somehow, he knows. Shaker!
There was no response.
“Go in the back, I’ll check the front.”
The young pastor hurried back in the direction he’d come. The tall man headed right for Debbie.
Shaker! Debbie headed for the door, making excuses to Father John of forgetting the plane was leaving early, anything to get to the door. But the tall man was faster and blocked her path.
Father John nodded. “I’ll hope to see you soon, Debbie, but not too soon. You take care of yourself, and please let me know if you change your mind. Bless you.” He turned and headed away. Debbie thought to call him back, but she knew it wouldn’t be any use. He might care about me, but he’s not going to save me from a demon hunter.
“Hello,” the tall man said. “Your name is Debbie?”
“You already know that,” Debbie said defensively. “Did you send those priests away?”
“Pastors,” the man corrected. “And yes. One is a kindly old man who just wants to help people. The other can feel the demon bound to you and would kill you where you stand, if I hadn’t shielded you.”
“Why would you do that? Who are you?”
“I’m an angel, of course.”

Excerpt

Wesley got a good look. Justin. The man’s clothes were stained, his hair greasy. His sunken eyes were threaded with scarlet so densely they appeared pink.
“Look who’s here. The witch.” Justin said.
Darla didn’t move. She didn’t flinch.
Curses fell from Wesley’s lips as he raced forward.
“Come on. Leave her alone.” Justin’s friend pulled on his arm, but Justin wiggled out of his hold.
“Are you afraid of a little spell? I tell you all we need is a bit of her blood, dab it around the boat, and we’ll be protected. You can’t back down now. You hold her. Justin took out his knife and waved it at her.
“As above so below. As within so without,” Darla chanted her hands raised and fingers stretched toward them. “Let me see, how to finish the curse. I can make you into toads. No, that won’t do. You’d give the little creatures a bad name. Something more particular to you.”
The two men grew paler by the minute.
“Ah yes. I can make your ballocks fall off. Of course, I’m not proficient with this spell, so you’ll never know when it will happen, when you bathe, relieve yourself, or other more intimate moments.”
A well-practiced evil grin spread across her face that left no doubt she enjoyed the torment she inflicted. She stretched her arms and flexed her fingers reaching toward the two men.
“Yes, that will do.”
Justin’s friend took off running down the lane. Darla lowered her arms.
“Oh, what a pity he’s gone. The curse is specifically for two people.” Her brow wrinkled. “Ah, but I’m sure I can refocus it all on you.”
Darla raised her hands again. This time she pointed at Justin’s crotch. Her expression intense.
The drunk squirmed. His eyes lit with fear. Slowly, he lowered his knife.
Wesley took advantage of the man’s preoccupation and worked his way behind him. As soon as he was in place he tapped the drunk on the shoulder.
Justin gave a small yelp. When he turned, Wesley threw a right fist across his chin and laid him flat. Satisfied the man was out, he marched over to Darla and grabbed her hand.
“Where are you going? What were you thinking? And what is this nonsense about casting a spell?”
“You sound like my father. In what order do you want me to answer those questions?”
Her angry tone startled him. Did she think she could stop Justin’s attack with words?
“What I do is none of your concern.” She turned to move on.
Wesley caught her elbow and hauled her around to face him. She stared at him and said nothing. He didn’t move. He could be just as obstinate.
“He thought I was a witch so I obliged him.” She shook her hand free and stormed away.
“One minute, I’m not done.” He caught up with her.
“Ballock,” Wesley’s voice was low. “What do you know about, about ballocks?”
She stopped so abruptly he bumped into her.
“It’s a man’s most valued possession. Threatening that would make him reconsider his actions.”
