Then her father makes the mistake of offending a handful of outlaws on the way out of town and the men follow the family home. They forcefully join the family for dinner, changing Victoria's life forever when she emerges from her room the next morning having slept the night with a convict. Never mind that she did it to take their attention off her younger sisters, or that her father created the whole mess by saying the wrong thing to the wrong people, Victoria is ostracised. Tossed out then and there. Barefoot and with nothing but an old woodcutter's hand-me-down dress - and dresses are damned useless for running around in the bush in.
She would be free of her marriage dilemmas, small consolation, if the local law didn't take up the hunt and put a price on all of their heads. Being found by him would be an endless fate worse than death.

Excerpt

Kelly and Victoria meet and it unfolds like this from Victoria’s point of view…
“I’ll tell you what, if you can manage to say my name, then I’ll stop,” he whispers.
Sitting up, he looks me in the eye.
“You know what my name is, don’t you?”
I nod, my heart pounding so hard it’s stopping my lungs from functioning.
“Then say it,” he commands.
I slip my bottom lip between my teeth and hold it tight.
“No?” He smiles, lowering his face down to mine, our foreheads touching. “Last chance.”
…Which leads to this later in the book from Kelly’s point of view…
“It’s because of you that my father threw me from the house and—”
I shush her, resting my arm against the wall, and using all my willpower to keep from resting against her soft body.
“You didn’t ask me to stop,” I say.
“You tied me up!”
“Your mouth worked fine.”
“You… You… ”
“I… I… left you still dressed and unharmed. More than I should have.”
Her lips part, flashing perfect white teeth. Then she rushes past me. “I think I shall wait with the horse.”
And I’m left wishing I’d grabbed her arm and kept her against the wall.

We have the pleasure of conducting this interview with Sue Horsford, author of A Fine Line. Read on.
  1. Please tell us something unique about you that we can’t learn from your bio.
    I didn’t set out to publish an erotic novel. I just wanted to prove to myself that I could finish an entire novel and I thought writing sex would be fun! Then I saw an advert for a critique service and sent my first three chapters off out of curiosity. The editor who read the chapters said, ‘I hope you’re publishing this. I can’t wait to read the whole book.’ I’d never even considered publishing, but she gave me the confidence to have a go.
  2. What draws you to write BDSM?
    I’m drawn to writing BDSM because I find the whole subject fascinating. I wanted to explore the dichotomy between how a woman can be strong and independent, how she can consider herself a feminist, and yet find fulfilment in submission to a man. Yes, it is exciting to research and write about the ‘technical’ details, but in any form of erotica, it’s always the emotional content that turns me on. For research I read hundreds of blogs by female submissives and was genuinely moved by their emotional journeys with their Doms.
  3. Tell us about Faye Austin. Why did she feel drawn to Gabriel Scott?
    Faye has never felt important. Her mother was disinterested at best, and her father preferred her beautiful younger sister, Ginny. Even Faye’s husband doesn’t make her feel special. Faye has learned to live with being second best convincing herself that she doesn’t mind, finding her fulfilment in her work, supporting victims of domestic abuse. Gabriel’s dominance makes her feel that she matters, and through her submission, she comes to a new understanding of herself. ‘No one would understand that my submission empowered me, that I felt stronger kneeling at Gabriel’s feet than I ever had standing at Paul’s side.’
  4. Who is Gabriel Scott?
    Gabriel is seven years older than Faye, yet he’s never been in a committed relationship. Maybe this is because of his parents’ unhappy marriage or maybe he just hasn’t found the right woman. Unlike Faye, who discovers submission for the first time, Gabriel has always known he’s a Dominant. He’s only ever really had one relationship that could be described as BDSM but as he tells Faye, ‘Dani’s submission to me was a game, something she liked to do in the bedroom, but she never gave herself to me the way you’ve done’.
  5. What's up next for you?
    Next, I need to finish editing my second book which is about a business woman who is receiving threats from her ex and decides to hire a bodyguard who she subsequently learns is a member of an S&M club. He’s not her usual type but she finds herself intrigued and thinks it won’t do any harm as long as she doesn’t become emotionally involved. Again, I’ve really enjoyed exploring the emotional connotations of submission and I hope I’ve succeeded. My fantasy novel is quite experimental! It’s written from a few different viewpoints and contains a story within a story.

“Whatever it is you want, I can help you get it. You don’t have to do this.”
“You can’t,” he answered, and he knew it was true. The lack of action from the asshole when she’d begged on the phone had made it clear. As long as he stopped, Mercier would continue to drag this out — which left only one option, he’d have to hurt the girl, torture her until he gave in for real. No more promises, no more time, no more deadlines.

“I can. Ju-just give me the chance.” Her hands tightened into fists as he moved closer, tugging at the chains that he already knew wouldn’t give her any slack.
“No more chances for you or Daddy. Either he signs, or we keep going until you’re done.”
“Done?” she whispered, and the tears pooling in her eyes caught the lights making them shine. So fucking beautiful. Such a fucking waste.
“That’s right.”
“Oh God!” The girl fought hard, ripping at the cuffs, making her breasts bounce, nipples hardened by the cool air in the room, and he watched for a minute as a few tears leaked out into her hair.
“Don’t worry, I don’t want you to talk to him this time.” Lifting the ball gag in his hands, he smiled underneath the mask when she shook her head, panic making her flail harder at the chains while his cock stiffened against his leg.
“Please! Just let me talk to him again, please, tell me what you want him to sell and I’ll convince him! I swear!
