Music is Like Food

I am sure you just read that title and thought is she insane? I am not going to try to convince you I’m not insane, because I am a little. I want you to read what I have to written and think about it how it applies to you.
I love music almost as much as I love food. Both play with your senses and give endless amount of pleasure. Both are very comforting and we turn too in times of need. One gets you going and the other keeps you going. Food can trigger thoughts of a person and the words of a song can bring a memory of someone.
Both can be bad for you. If you listen to music to loud it can damage your hearing and if you over indulge in food it is bad for your stomach.
When you are young you generally only like certain foods. Most likely the food your mom made, because no one can make certain food like your mom. The same could be said for music. You like what you are exposed too. You are always trying to convince people your music is the only kind of music and you can’t understand why everyone else in the world doesn’t share your opinion.
Then as you get older your palette broadens and you experience new things. You discover there is a whole new world of ethnic foods that you weren’t exposed to before. The flavors exploded in your mouth and you crave them constantly. The same with music. When you start to hang out with people you respect enough to accept they like their own type of music and you listen to it. You begin to appreciate a cornucopia of different genres. My fourth son taught his rocker mama that country music rocks.
Music and food are about exploring. Trying new things and appreciating other people’s taste. I often ask people for their favorite recipe or their favorite song because there must be something about the food or the song they fell in love with. I want opportunity to fall in love with their taste.
Music and food calm the savage beast. Why, because they feed the body and the soul. How does this all relate to my book? Well music gives us words that help us escape just like food. Pick up my book, read my words and let my words feed your soul. Let me make you giggle, cry and fall in love. When your done grab a snack. Go to my website and listen to the playlist. Watch the pictures while the travel to destinations in the book and escape. Bon appétit!
